The Wii Channel Menu was created with the idea of TV channels in mind; each feature/application of Wii, known as a Channel, is stored in a Channel slot on the Wii Menu that features an animated icon. Selecting a Channel icon with the Wii Remote 's A button then allows the user to open it by clicking the 'Start' button. Exit the Wii Shop Channel and return to the Wii Menu after it’s been installed. If you downloaded it to system memory, you’ll see the new Netflix channel even with no disc inserted in the device. If you installed the channel to the SD Card, you’ll have to click on the SD Card below to switch to that menu and then you’ll find your new app. From the Wii main menu, use the Wii Remote to select the 'Wii Shop Channel.' Select 'Start' to connect to the Wii Shop. If you have not previously accessed the Wii Shop Channel, you will need to read and agree to the User Agreement. A screen will appear asking you if you want to link a Club.

The Wii Shop Channel was the place Nintendo created to buy/download official software from the internet directly to your Wii. You could download lots of different content for your Wii, this includes new channels, Virtual Console games and WiiWare. The latter two could be purchased by either buying a points card at a retail store, or by entering your credit card into the channel. On January 31, 2019, the Wii Shop Channel was shut down, sadly. You can still access the shop, but there will be nothing left in the shop except the Wii U Transfer Tool and The Legend Of Zelda: Skyward Sword Save Data Update Channel.
Channels
The Wii Channels section featured additional non-game channels that could be downloaded and used on your Wii.
The Wii Channels section in the Wii Shop Channel was originally under the name of WiiWare in North America and Wii Software in Europe, before moving to its own dedicated space when WiiWare launched.
Downloading
During downloads, an 8-bit Mario runs across the screen collecting coins, representing the download's progress. Every 33%, Mario will hit one of the three blocks on the screen. The third and final block is a multi-coin block that Mario will stand under and continue to hit from 99% until the download is complete. Pressing the A button will make Mario shoot fire balls if he is Fire Mario. Sometimes, Luigi appears in place of Mario, or both Mario and Luigi will swim across the screen. There are six different animations, some appearing more often than others.
Software downloaded from the Wii Shop Channel is saved onto the Wii console's internal memory. After a download is complete, the new software appears on the Wii Menu as a channel. Software can be copied to SD cards or re-downloaded for free if you purchased it. Wii consoles with system software version 4.0 can download software directly to SD cards.
Revisions and Updates
The Wii Shop Channel has received several updates since launch that have added new features and functionality.
- On February 16, 2007, PAL regions received an exclusive update that added secret pages called Warp Zones. These pages feature highly detailed background information and tips and tricks for newly added Nintendo published games. These secret pages are accessible only on certain pages through links disguised as ASCII faces.
- On March 30, 2007, PAL regions received separate news articles for every new game added in an update to the Wii Shop's front page. Previously, all new games in an update would be announced in a single piece of news (with the exceptions of some flagship titles, such as The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time), with very little background information. This was added to the North American Wii Shop Channel on May 14, 2007.
- On August 6, 2007, the Wii Shop Channel's interface was heavily updated. Four 'Recommended Titles' are now featured on the Wii Shop Channel's splash page where they can be easily accessed, with new titles and prices indicated. Games are now categorized by system, genre, and publisher with the number of games in each category shown. A search tool was also added to allow users to search for a specific game.
- A December 10, 2007, update added the ability to send software as gifts to Wii Friends. Along with this update, European Wii owners were given the ability to exchange points collected on the Nintendo of Europe website ('Stars') for Wii Points. The update also included a redesigned start screen and Wii Menu icon that now promotes recently released games.
- On March 20, 2008, the Wii Shop Channel was updated in preparation for the launch of WiiWare games coming out later that spring.
- On October 22, 2008, the Wii Shop Channel received an update where the controller information was moved to a separate window within the game program. The Wii Shop Channel also prompts the user before he or she purchases a game to confirm if the user has the required controllers. The Wii Shop Channel also supposedly loads faster after this update.
- In November 2008, the Wii Shop Channel was updated by adding 'Wii Download Ticket' feature. Wii Download Tickets may be found packaged with select retail software and accessories (such as Wii Speak) and contain a 16-digit code (which can only be used once) that allows you to download specific software titles.
- On March 25, 2009, the Wii Shop Channel was updated so that channels can be downloaded to and played directly from an SD card.
- On October 20, 2009, the Wii Shop Channel was updated so that demo versions of certain games could be purchased for free at different points in time.
- On September 8, 2010, Nintendo released another Shop Channel update. This adds the 'Korean IOSes' to all regions as well as a new Shop Channel which requires an updated IOS56.
- On November 6, 2012, Nintendo released a Wii Shop Channel update alongside a new IOS (IOS62). Interestingly, nothing else was changed in the update.
Technical Information
In order to use the Wii Shop Channel, you have to configure your Wii's connection settings. It uses a secure connection to the servers, so we cannot sniff it. In previous versions of the channel, the connection wasn't secured.[1] Please note that these are outdated, and may have changed in newer versions.
You can also access the Wii Shop Channel from a PC, but it will not look as it does on the Wii, because the HTML refers to Wii-specific fonts and Wii-specific JavaScript APIs. We've tried using these codes on the Internet Channel without success.
Netflix On Wii Not Working
To find out used URLs and IPs refer to the Wii.com article.
The Wii Shop Channel's title ID is 0x0001000248414241 (HABA), and for Korean Wiis, 0x000100024841424B (HABK). Install gpedit msc windows xp sp3.
Without you instrumental lana del rey. If you have the latest git of libogc, available from git://hackmii.com/home/ogcgit/libogc if you have a git client, you can use the following code to start the Shop Channel and jump to a specific product:
WII_LaunchTitleWithArgs(0x0001000248414241LL, 0,'/startup?initpage=showTitle&titleId=*FULLTITLEID*', NULL /*terminator*/ );
where *FULLTITLEID* is the full ID in hex of the software.
For example, to open the European version of Columns on the Megadrive in the European version of Wii Shop Channel, you would use:

Channels in the Shop still there?
Interestingly, most of the software that was in the Shop is not completely gone, it is still on Nintendo's servers, but the software is simply hidden from plain view. If you open the Wii Message Board, then open the permotianal message from Nintendo about YouTube on Wii (others may work as well, as long as they are about a new software title), then click Start, it will launch the Wii Shop and go to the YouTube page, although, you cannot download the channel because the bottom of the page where the download button would be says 'This software is currently unavalible.'
Using a Wii
Connect Wii To Netflix
- Consider changing profiles instead of logging out. If you are sharing a Netflix account between multiple people, you can setup and use profiles for each user. These profiles will keep recommendations and history separate for each user, allowing you to easily share your account with family and friends.
- You can create profiles from the Netflix Account Management page (movies.netflix.com/YourAccount). You cannot create profiles from the Wii Netflix app.
- You can switch profiles in the Wii Netflix app by clicking the profile image with your Wii Remote. You can then select the profile that you want to use. If you don't have the option to switch profiles, you may need to update your Netflix app.
- Open the Wii Settings menu if you want to log out. If you need to log out of the Wii Netflix app so that you can log in with an entirely different account, you can get started in the Wii Settings menu. Click the 'Wii' option from the Wii's main menu.
- Select 'Data Management' and then 'Save Data.' This will allow you to find the profile data that Netflix has stored.
- Select 'Wii.' A list of all of your app and game save data will appear on the screen.
- Click the 'Netflix' icon. It will have a red 'N' with a white background. Older versions may have a white 'N' with a red background. It will be labeled 'Netflix Channel.'
- Select 'Erase' from the list of options. You will be prompted to confirm that you want to delete the stored account information. This will not delete your Netflix channel, or delete your account. It will just remove the stored login information from the Netflix app.
- Return to the Wii's main menu by pressing 'Back' multiple times. Continue pressing Back until you see your list of channels.
- Open Netflix and log in with another account. When you select Netflix, you'll be prompted to enter login information or create a new account. Click 'Sign In' and then enter the account information that you want to use.
Using a Wii U
- Use profiles to share an a single account with multiple people. Profiles allow you to have different sets of history and recommendations for a single account. This makes it easy to share an account with your family or friends. If you switch profiles, you don't need to log out and log in to the Netflix app. If you aren't able to switch profiles, you'll need to update your Netflix app.
- You can't create profiles from the Wii U, but you can create them at the Netflix Account Management page (movies.netflix.com/YourAccount).
- Switch profiles by selecting the profile image in the upper-right corner of the Netflix app on your Wii U. You'll also be prompted to select a profile when you start the app for the first time.
- Open the Netflix app if you want to sign out. If you'd rather sign out instead of use different profiles, you can do so from within the Netflix app itself.
- Open the Settings menu. You can open this by selecting the Gear icon at the top of the Netflix screen.
- Select 'Sign Out' and then confirm that you want to log out. You will be signed out of the Wii U app, and prompted to log in with a different account.
Using Your Computer
- Log into your Netflix Account Management page. If you no longer have access to your Wii console, you can log out using the Netflix Account Management page. Visit movies.netflix.com/YourAccount and log in with your Netflix account.
- Click the 'Sign out of all devices' link. You'll find this in the Settings section.
- Confirm that you want to sign out of all devices. This will sign you out of any device that is currently logged into your Netflix account, including any game consoles, computers, smart TVs, and mobile devices.
- Log back in on the devices you want to use. Because you've been signed out everywhere, you'll need to log back in with any devices that you still want to use with Netflix.
